Abdullah Iddris-Sandor won bronze in the -58 Sports Sambo while Vincent Boateng got the bronze in Beach Sambo -58kg after losing in Combat Sports at the 19th African Sambo Championship in Conakry, Guinea from 24 to 26 May, 2025.
The international event which took place at the Sports Palace 28 September Stadium was attended by 82 athletes from 19 countries.

Sambo Coach Jonathan Amponsah who led Team Ghana said it was an exciting and tough programme which Ghana cannot be left out. He hailed the two athletes for putting up a high spirit performance in the sports competition which involves Combat & Beach Sambo.

On the first day Vincent Boateng lost in the Combat Sambo, but came back stronger to clinch a medal
The competition attracted high level personalities like the Minister of Youth and Sports of Guinea Conakry Mr Bojola Haba and Ghana’s Ambassador to Guinea H.E Maxwell A. Awiaga who was impressed by the display of the Ghanaians.

The Prime Minister of Guinea Conakry H.E Amadou Oury Bah attended the opening ceremony and commended the patronage from other nations.
President of Ghana Sambo Mr Alex Amoako said they are putting up structures well to be recognised as a formidable Federation. He appealed for support, partnership and sponsorship to put Ghana on the Sambo map.
