Representatives of 98 countries including Ghana are meeting in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from May 28 to 30 to strategise for the upcoming Games of the Future.
The “Games of the Future 2025” is an international multi-sport event that blends physical and digital gaming, called phygital sports. It will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in November 2025. This event features competitions in phygital football, phygital basketball, phygital shooting, and phygital dancing.
This year’s event is expected to generate excitement, particularly with the upcoming reveal of the host city for GOTF 2027.
Mr. Igor Boumekpo President of Ghana Esports Federation (GESF) said they do both Sports and Esports = Phygital Sports combination of Sports and Esports.
Igor who was in Dubai with a representative from Ministry of Sports & recreation for World Phygital summit 2025 noted that Ghana and other countries will represent this year in the Game of the Future in Dubai.
Ghana will participate in two disciplines: Phygital Football and Phygital Basketball.
“So this summit is to clear all issues and preparation towards the upcoming event, that’s why 98 countries are in Dubai” he expressed.
Ghana Esports Federation (GESF) is a member of World phygital community WPC, and phygital International is the one organizing the Games of Future in which
“We will engage with the digital version on PlayStation 5 and subsequently continue on a physical pitch. The winner will advance to the next stage, analogous to the progression in football” said.
Igor Boumekpo President of Ghana Esports Federation (GESF) expressed that the world has gone digital and sports has also been digitalised so Ghanaians especially the youth must embrace and participate in ESports.
