It was a full house last Friday, April 10 as Legacy Rise Sports Promotions returned to the Bukom Boxing Arena, where the cream of boxing lovers showed up to witness Ghana’s Theophilus Nii Kpakpo Allotey aka ‘Lopez’ win the WBA Africa Super Flyweight title in addition to the WBO Global, WBO Africa, National and UBO Africa belts.
Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Promotions as leader ensured that the bouts started on time and fans enjoyed themselves to the maximum as they watched marvelous and amazing boxers display the noble art of self defence.
The new face of Ghana Boxing, Theo Lopez of the Wisdom Boxing Gym opened up with a flurry of punches in the 7th round connecting Jonas Erastus of Namibia and compelling referee Roger Barnor to end the fight.
Fit Square product, tall Ahmed Abdula of Ghana won the WBA Africa Cruiserweight title with a unanimous victory over Nigeria’s Obaro Eradajaye who decided to wear a shorts displaying colours of the Ghana flag.
The two warriors gave the fans what they wanted as none backed down in the rounds, however Ahmed Abdula won the war on points to improved his record to 10 – 0, 7 KOs, while Obaro Eradajaye saw his own blood as he promised before the fight.
Benjamin A. Bulley hit the canvas after series of fierce exchanges in the opening bout, but shocked fans as he outpointed Kevin Carter.
Nathaniel Suppey stood tall as he dug deep and secured the win against PKO’s Prince Kamaldeen in a high-octane second bout.
Corporal Jerry Lartey defeated Sheriff Quaye when he displayed determination and discipline as well as excellent skill to score in the unanimous decision. The judges scored the bout 79 – 73, 77 – 75 and 80 – 72 for Jerry Lartey who retained his WBA title in a spectacular performance.
John “Expensive Boxer” Laryea dropped Lazarus Namalambo in round 2 and stopped him in round 5 sending shockwaves through Jamestown, Bukom and Chorkor with a devastating right hook to stop the Namibian in his tracks.
Jursly ‘The Gorilla’ Vargas from the Netherlands also delivered the fastest statement of the night, knocking out ‘Zongo Fire’ Dowuona in just 1:58seconds.
Pure grit and power was witnessed when Ibrahima Diallo and Ghana’s Godson Amuzu got in the ring for fourth bout. It was proper pound-for-pound action which the Guinean based in Belgium won.
UK based Voltarian, Sedem Ama also retained her WBA Africa Super Welterweight title.
But the real show was the entertainment by Dope Nation and performance of the ‘Kakalika’ dance by Dr. Like in the presence of the Hon Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, Hon John Dumelo, former Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan and brother Baffour Gyan, promoter Ayitey Powers, former IBF champion Joshua Clottey, Ghana Professional Boxing IMC chairman Samir Captan, former WBC champion Professor Azumah Nelson and others.
