Freezy Macbones aka Seth Gyimah, the Paris and London based Ghanaian professional boxer has made a passionate appeal for local boxers’ welfare to be taken seriously and enhanced.
Speaking to Yours Truly in an exclusive interview at the Laboma Beach Resort on Wednesday, he said boxing is a great profession that is why he has left the kitchen for sometime to engage himself in the pugilistic sport.

The trained chef said Ghana is the Mecca of boxing in Africa, while Ghana has the best boxers on the continent, however the boxing business must be done well so that many people can be attracted to become boxers. He named Professor Azumah Nelson and Mike Tyson as his idols.
Freezy Macbones whose wife is a French sailing Olympian, noted that boxing or sports in general can change lives, so sportsmen and women need to be respected because it is not easy to do sports, especially boxing.
“Our boxers need to be paid reasonably well, so that they will feed good to fight and fight again, we also need sponsorships and partnerships for good boxing business” he stated.

According to Freezy Macbones, his focus is to win a continental title, and his target is the WBA Africa title which he lost to Jonathan Tetteh also called ‘Worldwide’ at the University of Ghana Stadium at Legon.
“I am very glad that Box Office and RBS Promotions want to put up a return match in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and I can’t wait to fight before my people, I promise to win the next fight with Worldwide in Oseikrom” he expressed.

Freezy Macbones revealed that apart from boxing, he has found a new passion in horse riding in addition to bike riding.
Quizzed whether he regrets not participating at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, he said “I never regret anything in life, because in life you have to face every challenge with a positive mind, and I am a very strong person, every negative thing can be positive and I hope to teach my children to be mentally strong and take every failure as a victory” he said.

With a single defeat in 12 professional outings, Macbones believes there are many good fighters in his weight division who can battle him in the future, naming boxers like Abu Kamoko aka Ambitious Tilapia who came sell a good fight, Jacob Dickson of the Bronx Gym and others at the Wisdom Boxing Gym.
The popular boxer takes his first fight of the year against Jamiu Animashaun of Nigeria in an international light heavyweight cliffhanger scheduled for 8 rounds on the Resurrection Fight Night powered by RBS Promotions and Box Office Sports Promotions on Easter Sunday, 5 April at Laboma Beach Resort, Labadi, Accra.

The main bout on the bill with ten encounters is between Jonathan Tetteh and Abdul Aziz Quartey for the Ghana National Cruiserweight title.
Nana Adjei Clinton of Wisdom Boxing Gym will fight for a title, as others test their skills and stamina. Alfred Lamptey takes on experienced Maxwell Awuku, while Joseph Commey squares up with Bright Ayala.

The gate fee is 100ghc for the popular stand, however the CEO of RBS Promotions, Dr. Alfred Botchway has issued special 50ghc discounted tickets for the people of Bukom, Osu and La who want to buy early.
Ring Side, VIP and VVIP tables are going for 1,000ghc, 3,000ghc and 6,000ghc respectively with special meals and drinks.
