Sport is more than a game. It is a pathway to transformation.
The Ghana Rugby Football Union is proud to announce that the Ghana Prisons Service has officially approved Rugby as a structured developmental and correctional programme under a Sports for Development framework.
This milestone positions rugby as a tool for rehabilitation, leadership, discipline, and reintegration for both officers and juveniles in correctional care.
Built on the core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, and resilience, this initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals – promoting health and well-being (SDG 3), supporting life-skills and values-based education (SDG 4), advancing inclusion and reduced inequalities (SDG 10), and strengthening peace and institutions (SDG 16).

Through structured coaching, leadership development and life-skills integration, rugby will serve as a safe and empowering platform for positive behaviour change and sustainable reintegration.
“This is more than a programme. It is progress. It is purpose. It is sport driving real impact” said the President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Ms Rafatu Inusah.
