African Games 2023 silver medalist Abubakar Kamoko aka Ambitious Tilapia has named his dad Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku as his idol, mentor and inspiration.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Omashi TV flagship programme, The Big Fight Night, he also mentioned Tyson Fury as his best boxer outside Ghana and was very sad when he lost for the second time to Oleksandr Usyk.
According to the new kid on the block in Ghana Boxing, he is the best and most popular boxer in Ghana currently and he is destined for greatness.
He thanked his manager, Sharaf Mahama of Ultimate Legacy Rise for his support and motivation.
According to Abu Kamoko he had only four amateur bouts and won a silver medal at the African Games in Accra which was his first international experience.
He noted that it is a family achievement improved as his father won a bronze medal at the same competition in his time.
“I really suffered body pains at the Games and the Congolese who beat me is my toughest opponent ” he expressed.
He revealed that moving from amateur to the professional ranks is not easy because it needs more training and conditioning from three rounds to twelve.
He thanked Coach Carl Lokko of Bronx Gym for his support and encouragement as well as all his gym mates
He thanked all his fans, the warriors in Bukom and advised them to behave and show respect any time they come to the Bukom Boxing Arena to watch boxing to entertainment themselves and not to create problems.
Abu who attended Afadzato Senior Technical School at Hohoe in the Volta Region hinted that he is bidding his time to become very famous in world boxing.
He named five boxers on the local scene who he will love to fight, they are Akoto, Clinton, Haruna, Kamaradeen and Bazooka who are all in his weight class.
Award winning matchmaker, Yussif Mubarak Nii Armah Nanor who was at the studio promised to match him against any of the mentioned opponents.
Abu Kamoko disclosed that his best dish at home is rice and pepper, however when he goes out he does not miss his banku and tilapia, while Shatta Wale is his best musician.
