Super Bantamweight boxer, Abigail Quartey (9-1-0) on Sunday, November 24, 2024 wrote her name in the history books of Ghana and World Boxing when she became Ghana’s first-ever female world champion after defeating United Kingdom’s Sangeeta Birdie in a thrilling WIBF World Title bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Abigail 28, dominated the ring and the rounds, winning by unanimous decision with all three judges scoring it 98-91.
According to boxing pundits, her victory is more than just a personal achievement; it’s a groundbreaking moment for Ghanaian boxing and a beacon of hope for young athletes across the nation.
