Lawrencia Okine has been recognised for her selfless, sacrifice, dedication and devotion to the game of hockey and sports from 1997 to 2024.
She is one of the WISA Award winners for 2024. The ceremony takes place on Saturday September 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
She was called to the Ghana National Hockey team in 2003, represented Ghana with Ghana Fire Service hockey ladies team in the African Cup for club championships (ACCC) and was a silver medalist on all occasions in 2004 Abuja, 2005 in Ghana and 2007 in Kenya.
She has exhibited a strong sense of valour in the face of serious injuries by coming back in the sport, joining the Ghana Female Masters hockey team to represent Ghana in the 2022 and 2024 world masters hockey tournaments in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Lawrencia Okine is passionate and dedicated to any role in hockey management and wants to mentor up and coming players. She gets inspiration from her mum, Cynthia Akwele Lamptey, also a former national goalkeeper in football and hockey as well as retired fire officer.
