Edmund Akator, Rising Kick Boxer Aims For Revenge At African Open 2024 Championship

Edmund Akator, the budding kickboxer who was declared loser at the 2023 edition of the African Open held at the Korea Sports Complex, Tema last year says he did not lose but coming to make amends and take what belongs to him.

He hinted at a press launch on Thursday at Decathlon Kawukudi that he has prepared well and promise to make his fans happy and proud.

“I am always a winner, I did not lose but the officials awarded the verdict to my opponent. I have lived to fight another day and this time I will make it. I will knock out Darko, I promise” he assured.

Jonathan Lamptey who defeated Cossa Richard will also fight on the show and has promised to win again.

The 2024 African Open which takes place at the Accra Sports Stadium will involve Boxing, Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Promoter Mr. Steavano Tuepke, who is Vice President and African Rep of WKU said it has not been easy to attract sponsors and bring the fighters on board, but those who love the sports are going to make it happen.

He promised a great evening of sports and entertainment as some celebrities like Chris Attoh and Elikem the designer will grace the event.

Decathlon and Twellium Industial Company are supporting the 2024 African Open with some of their products.

Nii Dr. Adotey Dzata I aka Joe Mingle, a former President of the Ghana Kickboxing Association who addressed the conference urged the fighters to be serious and train always to be in good condition, and take the sports as their profession so that they can excel and move up to challenge for international titles and earn good rewards.

Mr. Yoofi Boham, a former Vice President also recalled how lack of promotions has derailed the sport and called for lisencing of promoters and encouraging them to work.

Mr. Yakubu Abdul – Razak, the current President said they are working hard to sustain the sport and engaging media houses to promote their activities.
