Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportüfe Elected President Of Ghana Skaters’ Association

New Leaders Sworn-Into Office After Online Election

The new executive board of the Ghana Skarers Association has been sworn into office.

They are Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportüfe as President, Mr. Godfrey W. Amarteifio – as 1st Vice President, Mr. Reginald George Quartey- Zone 1 Vice President, Mr. Andrew Bampoe-Parry- Zone 2 Vice President, Mr. Emmanuel Lartey- Zone 3 Vice President, and Mr. Eric Fordjour- Zone 4 Vice President.

The Secretary General position is occupied by Mr. Prosper Ashiquaye Doku with Mr. NANA Yaw Quansah serving as Deputy Secretary General. Mr. George Bamfo is the Treasurer with Mr. Solomon Anim-

Owusu serving as an Athlete Rep. Ms. Josephine Darkwah is the Women’s Commissioner. Lawyer Devine Kweku Asigbetsey urged the new executives to work hard to develop the game.

The Secretary-General of the Ghana Skaters Association Mr. Prosper Ashiquaye Doku, says they are open to partnering corporate Ghana to develop the sport.

The President of the Ghana Skaters Association, Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportüfe, says they are united to develop the sport.

The new executives have pledged to roll out lots of actives in the coming weeks.

Skating involves any sports or recreational activity which consists of traveling on surfaces using skates. Skating can be done of ice and other hard surfaces.

The sport has been part of Ghana’s sports ecosystem for a while operating as the Federation of Roller Sports. In January, 2023, an annual general meeting was held and the name was changed from the Federation of Roller Sports Association to Ghana Skaters Association, GHASA.

An interim Management Committee was set up to develop and amend the constitution as well as plan and organize more activities for the Association.

An election committee was formed and chaired by Mr. Kwadjo Baah Agyemang with Lawyer Devine Kweku Asigbetsey as Member and Madam Christine Ashley as Secretary.

An online election was held and an eleven-member executive committee was elected. Lawyer Devine Kweku Asigbetsey administered the oath of office.
