Bantama FC beat Amakom FC by three goals to two to become winners of the 2024 MTN AshantiFest Community Football Tournament which ended on Sunday, 28th July 2024 at the Dechemso Otumfuo Park.
The grand finale gave soccer lovers a wonderful treat of amazing football by the two sides in the five-goal game.
Hot favourites Bantama edged Amakom FC in an exciting final which produced great football for the fans to take home 20,000ghc plus the trophy and gold medals while the losers took 10,000ghc plus silver medals.
Ejisu FC beat Adoato FC 4-3 on penalties in the third place play off. The third place winners, got 5,000ghc and bronze medals, while Adoato FC went home with 3,000ghc.
Berekum Chelsea’s Emmanuel Sarpong aka Agogo of Bantama FC won Best Player and Goal King, beating hot challenge from George Antwi aka Henry and Marvin Owusu of Amakom FC.
Bantama’s goalkeeper Kwadwo Nimako was the Best Goalkeeper, while the Best Defender went to Kennedy Kofi Mensah of Amakom with his teammate Nana Kwame ‘La Liga’ getting the Most Promising or Discovery of the tournament.
MTN the organisers of the tournament wish to thanked the chiefs and people of the various communities who made it possible for another successful event.
Senior Manager, Brands and Communication, MTN Mr Germain Nartey praised the teams for their professionalism and competitiveness displayed during the tournament.
“The level of competition has improved as compared to last year and we are happy to host a bigger tournament next year,” he expressed.
MTN he noted, was committed to sports development in the country and the Ashantifest was a way of giving back to society and engaging loyal customers within the region
