Recent reports alleging that 11 members of the Ghana Paralympic Team absconded upon arriving in Norway on April 27, 2024, for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon have been debunked by the event organizers.
Club director Roger Gjelsvik confirmed to the media that the National Paralympic team did not participate, vindicating Samson Deen and NPC Ghana.
The Ministry of National Security’s letter dated July 3, 2024, stated that 11 team members absconded, leading to speculation and misinformation.
However, Samson Deen and NPC Ghana consistently denied involvement, emphasizing that they did not participate in the marathon and had not applied to the Norwegian Embassy for facilitation.
Roger Gjelsvik’s confirmation has put the allegations to rest, exonerating Samson Deen and NPC Ghana. Their unwavering commitment to promoting disability sports and supporting Ghanaian athletes is a testament to their character.
Ernest Yaw Ayisi of Ernestay Disability Sports Foundation is alleged to be the Principal Architect behind the alleged absconders to Norway.
