It is an unfortunate curve – Nat Attoh on Ghana Boxers failure to grab 2024 Olympic Games slot

“We are not doing the right things to succeed and sustain our achievements in Boxing” the ace boxing writer said in an exclusive interview.

Nathaniel Attoh who is a ring announcer, ace sports journalist and licensee of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has expressed his disappointment on the dwindling fortunes of Ghana Boxing at international competitions because things are not done properly at the developmental level.

Speaking to Yours Truly and the Omashi TV crew, the media personality said the Boxing’s victory by Samuel Takyi winning the Bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games was a Statement and Case to give attention to Boxing and other sports that the country does well, and invest in their training, proper monitoring, nutrition, participation in international competitions for exposure.

He said there had not been any holistic effort or plan and strategies to sustain the achievements gained by Boxing which has given the nation more laurels than any sport.

Nat Attoh lamented that there is no residential camping when the national team is preparing for international competition and lack of exposure for the boxers in terms of training tours and other competitions to keep them conditioned.

According to the ace presenter of the Joy Sports Team of the Multimedia Group, it is time the nation identifies areas in sports where Ghana has comparative advantage and develops, giving examples of Jamaica and the sprints.

He observed that there are cracks in the sports system of Ghana.

He noted that after identifying the problem, it must be fixed to retain the respect, pride and dignity that Boxing has given me nation.

“As media practitioners, we need to bring the feedback, when we identify the problems, we must present the solutions to be implemented for the nation, we need to do things properly” he added.

He expressed that it is sad and unfortunate that Ghana will not be represented at Paris 2024 in Boxing.
