The Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday kept their fifth FIFA World Cup hopes alive as they played Mali in Bamako and won by two goals to one, after suffering a bitter first goal by Kamory Doumbia whose kick rebounded off Alex Djiku to beat Goal Keeper Lawrence Ati Zigi.
Rising star on the block, Ernest Nuamah got the equalizer, while Jordan Ayew banged the winner in extra time before over 50,000 home crowd.
The new look Black Stars captained by Thomas Partey for once in many matches looked purposeful and were running.
According to Coach Addo the players’ performance was okay. Lawrence Ati Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Tariq Lamptey, Thomas Partey, Abdul Salis Samed, Mohammed Kudus, Ernest Nuamah and Antoine Semenyo started for Ghana.
Ghana is dreaming of a fifth World Cup appearance in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Other countries in the group are Chad, Comoros, Madagascar and Central African Republic.
