73 African Boxers From 25 Countries In Bangkok

73 AFRICAN BOXERS FROM 25 COUNTRIES ARE IN BANGKOK

The opemimg is on Friday with 13 African nations in action at the preliminaries.

A total of 73 African boxers – 54 men and 19 women – from 25 countries are in Bangkok, Thailand, to battle it out in the final Olympic Games qualifiers starting on Friday, May 24.

The African countries in the Far East are Algeria, Burundi, Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Cape Verde, Gabon, Guinea Bisaau, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Liberia, Morocco, Mali, Mozambique, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia.

Europe leads with 206 boxers followed by Asia 163 and Americas 106. Oceania with 27 boxers has the lowest number of entries.

In Friday’s opening round of 64, the 13 African boxers who will be in the squared circle are Mandela Cup featherweight champion Armando Sigauque from Mozambique, Uganda’s light-middleweight Muzamir Kakande having a tough fight against Cuba’s Jorge Cuellar, Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale vs Fiji’s Davule Jone, Mali’s Abdoul Bathily, Libya’s Ahmed Alkoum, Morocco’s light-middle Yassine El Ouarz, an all-African female clash between DR Congo’s Brigitte Mbabi vs Morocco’s Saida Lahmidi, Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo, Botswana’s George Molwantwa, Algeria’s Oussama Mordjane, Morocco’s Imad Azoui and Ghana’s Mohammed Amadu.
