Mauritius rider Aleander Mayar finished ahead of Dilian Geary and Kudus Ghebremedlein of South Africa and Eritrea respectively to win the Men’s Elite and Under 23 race on day two of the 13th African Games Cycling.
The race took place at Ablekuma Olebu involving 96 cyclists who started the race, but only 56 finished, due to the average speed displayed.
The winner rode home in a time of 3hrs, 06mins 01 secs over a distance of 137.5 km. The entire average speed was 44.35km/hr.
Ghana’s Solomon Tagoe placed 31st to make his country prone as the lone finisher of the Golden Pedals.
Cudjoe ended above three riders counting from the last cyclist to finish.
Other Ghanaians, Michael Naaba, Frank Akuffo, Prince Kudufia could not finish the race.
Cycling continues on Tuesday after a break on Monday with the criterum for both men and women.
