The Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) has named six Golden Rackets (Males) and four Diamond Rackets (Females) who will represent Ghana at the 13th African Games dubbed Accra 2023 to be contested at the Tennis Center of the new Borteyman Sports Complex from 15th March to 23rd March, 2024.
The players who were selected by the technical and executive body in consultation with the captains, Frederick Egyir and Rachard Ayi Dartey are Abraham Asaba, Isaac Nortey, Samuei Antwi, Johnson Abban (host wild card) and Lameck Bagerbaseh (host wild card) for the Golden Rackets and Ruth Crawford, Elizabeth Bagerbaseh, Sisu Makena Tomegah and Tracy Armah to represent the Diamond Rackets.
Their co ordidators are Madam Zenabu Sulemana and Mr. Henry Boni Quarshie.
According to the president of GTF, Mr. Isaac Duah, the team had non residential camping on January 20, 2024 and trained at the Accra Sports stadium, before moving into residential camping on February 15, 2024 at Cape Coast.
He wished the team all the best and invited tennis fans to be at Borteyman to support and cheer the players to victory, praying that the player win medals.
Mr. Duah, also the deputy treasurer of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) whose term has been rewarded by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) was impressed with the Borteyman Tennis Courts and prayed that it would be maintained well for Ghana to host more international tennis competitions.
The 13th African Games is from March 8th to 23rd 2024.
