Ghana was well represented in South Africa, with three amazing athletes who competed in this year OCC (Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge) marathon 2024 and won two gold medals and one silver.
The three time paralympian Botsyo Nkegbe won gold in 42 km, the general captain of Gogetdem Club, Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo won Silver in 42km.
“We were so excited seeing one of the up and coming para athlete in the person of Emmanuel Kwaku Gyasi, from the Yes I Can Games winning the Gold medal in 21 km.
“It was the first time he is competing outside Ghana I don’t know how to express my happiness for this young child, we can only say we thank God and all the sponsors who make this trip possible my special thanks go to Equity Sports Lab, GPAA and Seymour Aabjch Foundation for Young Disabled (CEO Mr Felix), we thank you all once again for your prayers and support from behind it really mean a lot to us” said Botsyo Nkegbe, a former SWAG Top Personality of the Year and captain of Team Ghana at the Commonwealth Games.
