UG Senior Staff Association, UEW Chapter Organises Tug Of War Competition At Winneba

The Senior Staff Association at the University of Ghana and the University of Education Winneba Chapter have organised a Tug of War Competition at the North Campus Hockey Pitch on the 20th of December, 2023.

Six teams competed in the event, namely UTAG, GAUA, SSA, AJUMAKO, TEWU, and Radio Windy Bay. The participants pulled fiercely in battles of strength and strategy to secure victory.

TEWU pulled GAUA in the first pull, while UTAG beat SSA over two straight victories. AJUMAKO also pulled Radio Windy Bay.

At the end of the interesting competition, UTAG, TEWU, and AJUMAKO emerged as the top contenders, qualifying for the final showdown scheduled for January 2024.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams, Tug of War s not just about physical prowess, but it revolves mind set.

The theme of the event was “The Role of Fun Games in Building Social Capital.” Participants and spectators alike witnessed how such activities can foster unity and teamwork among diverse groups.

The occasion was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Acting Registrar of the University of Education Winneba, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tetteh-Mensah, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

Other who watched were Professor Victor Antwi (Pro Vice-Chancellor), Professor Emmanuel Osei Sarpong (Dean, Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences, and Home Economics), Mr. Isaac Donkor (SSA National Chairman), and Mr. Collins Awuku (Director of Windy Bay Radio).

According to Mr. Williams the competitions are to select best pullers to represent Ghana at the next African and World Championships.
