The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, anticipates a massive global viewership exceeding five billion for the upcoming 2023 Africa Games, scheduled to take place in Accra from March 8 to 23, 2024.
Hosting facilities at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the University of Ghana Stadium are set to be handed over this December in preparation for the multisport event.
Addressing Parliament last Thursday, Ussif shared insights into a strategic partnership with the Olympic Channel, aiming to draw a vast audience to witness the games.
He highlighted key event statistics, stating, “We are expecting over five thousand athletes, three thousand officials, two thousand volunteers, and spectators in thousands.”
“In terms of online and global viewing, we are expecting more than 5 billion because we are partnering with the Olympic channel as one of the media partners,” emphasized Ussif.
These remarks were made in the context of the approval of the ministry’s budget of 195.7 million Ghana cedis.
