Ghana’s duo of Joseph Amoah and James Dadzie, failed to progress to the semi-finals of the Men’s 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Wednesday.
Amoah, finished fifth in his heat with a time of 20.56s, to miss out on a place at the next stage.
The Commonwealth Bronze medalist, missed out on the top four with his time slower than that of Filippo Tortu of Italy (20.46s), Sinesipho Dambile of South Africa (20.34s) and Canada’s Andre De Grasse (20.28s), who finished fourth third, and second respectively
The race was won by USA’s Erriyon Knighton who clocked 20.17s to progress to the semi-finals on Thursday
James Dadzie, pulled out injured in his heat after getting off the block well. He seems to have been affected by the injury he sustained earlier in the season
His race, was won by Canada’s Brendon Rodney with a season’s best time of 20.14s ahead of Renan Correa of Brazil (20.44s) and Shaun Maswanganyi of South Africa (20.56s)
Ghana’s only hope for a medal, now lies in the men’s 100x4m with heats set to start on Thursday.
