The top hierarchy of the Ghana Lifesaving and Diving Association – Ghalda yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Ghana Tourism Authority.The visit was to foster the relationship between the two parties in minimizing drowning prevention.
Ghalda is also bridging this noble relationship to ensure both parties synergize to protect potential revellers from drowning in our various hotels, beaches etc.
President of the Ghana Lifesaving and Diving Association – Ghalda, Chief Petty Officer 1, David Kwasi Afezame in his submission, was very elated at the call of this meeting and assured that the merger between the two bodies would help immensely in dealing with the current spate of drowning in the country.”
We are the mandated body to train and certify lifeguards and by this extension,with our collaboration with you we would be able to achieve successes in the control of these hotels, beaches who flout the law “- he mentioned.
Mr. Johnny Arthur – Quarm, Deputy Director of International market was very impressed with the visit and advised the Team to resubmit their proposal on the subject to his outfit as soon as possible for further action.
The Ghana Lifesaving and Diving Association is a mandated body under the international body- ILS and domestically embodied under the National Sports stadium to regulate,train, license and certify lifeguards in the country .
Ghalda is primarily concerned about drowning prevention and how to effectively ensure adequate compliance on quality pool maintenance and certification of recognized lifeguards in Ghana.
The current rate of drowning in the country is becoming alarming and as such the collaboration between the Ghana Lifesaving and Diving Association and the Ghana Tourism Authority will be key in tackling this canker.
