SWAG CYCLIST AWARD WINNER ANTHONY BOAKYE APOLOGIZES FOR ABSENCE IN RECENT COMPETITIONS

2021/2022 Swag Cyclist award winner, Anthony Boakye Dankwa BOAFO of River Park Brong Ahafo has remorsefully explained his inactivity in recent National Cycling competitions.

“I started my season very well and a day before for me to leave Sunyani to join my teammate in camp for the preparations of the Continental African Cycling Championship that was held in Accra.”

The former defending of the National Cycling Championship failed to represent at the just ended National Cycling Championships held in Ho where a champion emerged in the person of Michael Naaba.

“l was robbed by three arm robbers when l was going home later in the evening ,infact they took all the money l went for in the bank which was (13,800gh cedis ).And l had to also travelled the next day to Accra to join my fellow cyclists to camp which was very difficult for me”.- he added.

“Immediately after the African continental championship race the next day ,my Auntie whom l was in Accra passed away the same night so it was really something huge for me to bear alone at that moment because l was in deep pain .
And when l returned to my region ,during one of my training workouts in preparation towards the Ghana national championship l accidentally knocked down one old lady with my bike of which l had to take her to the hospital for treatment till she got better”- he told the Federation.

The experienced River Park Brong Ahafo rider mentioned that his absence has really affected his training and is therefore extending his utmost apology and remorse on this development.

“To the Ghana cycling federation ,my manager my club(Riverpark),fans and the general public ,I Boakye Dankwa Anthony Boafo ,am deeply sorry and l apologize for letting you all down and not taking part in such an important event like this in my career,l promise to make amendments and keep focus ,also to come back strong in my field of play as a sport.”- he concluded.
