“Pride of Bono” , John Zile defeated experienced, rugged customer, George Krampah in a ten round final eliminator for the National Super Bantamweight title. The fight which took place at the Rex Palace in Techiman, was set up by Anero Boxing Promotions owned by Mr. Eric Kpirakoh, in collaboration with Safebox Boxing Promotions.
The beginning of the bout was marked by cagey skirmishes but after the first two rounds both boxers opened fire ; trading heavy leather in the center of the ring and drawing applause from the teeming Techiman crowd, majority of whom were cheering for the hometown boy – John Zile ( 9-0).
Krampah landed occasional looping right hands which seemed to trouble the Osebor Boxing Management signee sometimes.
The end would come in the sixth round where Zile after delivering a left right combination placed a debilitating body shot which sent Krampah, now ( 15-8) reeling in pain and set the venue agog with wild jubilation from family and friends of the Bono native who has his eyes firmly set on the National Super Bantamweight Championship.
The event also featured juvenile boxers Godfred Coffie aka Oko CP, Solomon Aryeetey, Bright Lamptey and Samuel Plange in exciting exhibitions.
Other professional bouts on the bill saw another hometown favorite; Sheriff Seidu scoring a sixth round KO over Emmanuel Allotey in a Super Lightweight contest scheduled for eight rounds.Middleweight, Jibril Mohammed scored a TKO in round 4 over debutant Okasha Tamimu.
Protege of former two time World Champion Nana Yaw Konadu, Fosu Thompson of the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation was impressive in a round two victory over Moses Lartey in a Welterweight fray. Fosu, an indigene of the Bono Region was ecstatic after the bout and expressed readiness to face any boxer in his division.
Vandorf Okrah of the Chorkor Champions Boxing Gym blasted Daniel Nyame in the second round of their Super Featherweight encounter originally scheduled for six rounds.
The bill was sanctioned by the Ghana Boxing Authority.
