Medeama have been confirmed as Ghana champions and will represent the country at the next season’s CAF Champions League campaign.
The Yellow and Mauves clinched their first ever Ghana Premier League title after beating Tamale City at Akoon Park on Sunday.
Their league triumph means the two-time FA Cup winners have ended the 46-year trophy drought in the Western Region.
The last time a representative from the Western Region won the Ghana Premier League was in 1977 when Sekondi Hasaacas won the title.
The Yellow and Mauves needed just a point to win the title but inflicted a comfortable 3-0 win over Tamale City which also resulted in the demotion of Tamale City.
Having emerged as Champions, the Tarkwa-based club will represent Ghana in the Champions League provided they meet CAF demands.
The last time Medeama played in Africa was in 2015 when they featured in the CAF Confederations Cup campaign.
