Ahead of his WBO Featherweight Title clash against Solomon Martey of the Seconds Out Gym on April 30, John Abaja Laryea is waxing philosophical.
In a passionate and emotion-laden voice during the press conference which took place at De Zone Beach Resort in Korle Gonno, he said, ” I came from nothing. I’m eager to make a difference and chart a new course. This would serve as an inspiration to my kith and kin . Many a youth from my vicinity would also be motivated to pursue higher goals.”
The former WBO Africa Champ, Laryea ( 13-0-1), who was in the company of trainer Lawrence Carl Lokko and manager Sammy Anim Addo sounded very confident as he vowed to dispatch his opponent with ease and annex the strap he once held.
Solomon Martey ( 13-1-1) on his part said he saw nothing special about Laryea and would prove his mettle in the ring come fight night and win the vacant title. ” I’ve fought equally good guys, he’s nothing special,” Martey said.
The bill is put together by Bronx Boxing Promotions with support from the Asamoah Gyan Foundation and supervised by WBO Representative for Africa Mr. Samir Captan.
