PARACYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO BLAST AT OLEBU ABLEKUMA POKUASE STRETCH -14TH -17TH FEBRUARY, 2023

Preparations are all but set for the upcoming Africa Paracycling Road Championships to be held at Ablekuma Ollebu on the 15th &17th February, 2023.

Ghana is expecting to see over 30 Paracyclists in various categories, Hand cycling, Tandem, Amputee Cycling and Cerebral Palsy to get classified.

The event will run concurrently with the able Road Race at the same venue.

Classification of Para Athletes has been a major Challenge in Ghana and Africa with funding as the main cause. And so with Ghana hosting this Championships, it is a huge relief for the country to get as many Para Athletes to get their classification done. This offers a greater chance of representation at the 2024 Paris Olympics and Los Angeles 2028.

Only one Para Athlete, Frederick Assor is officially classified in the country. That was in Brazil even before he competed at the Australian Commonwealth Games in 2018.

Countries like Kenya, Egypt, Morocco and neigbouring countries like Togo, Benin, Burkina faso and Nigeria are set to storm Ablekuma for the Championship and get classified.

Ghana has featured and excelled at numerous Paracycling events with commendable results.
