The Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA is set to organize its maiden Diving Training course in Accra and Sogakope from the 23rd- 28th January,2023.
The course will entail classroom and practical sessions at the pool, ocean and river.
Participants who will be enrolling in the course will be provided with a Basic Diving Course Certificate and a Ghalda Diver ID.
The lead Instructor of the program and President of the Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA David Afezame believes this course will enrol in more National divers who will progress into becoming International Divers if that interest is stimulated.
” On the first day of training,we are going to do “pool screening ” and would be followed up with both theory and practicals”- he said.
“Basics will also see participants being immersed into an 18m dive into the river and the sea”- Mr. Afezame stressed.
Diving comes in two different forms primarily with leisure/ recreational diving and commercial Diving.
A professional Diver does what is referred to as commercial Diving to repair outmoded machines underwater, fix shipping parts etc, with the other type of diving solely done for leisure or what is commonly referred to as scuba Diving.
President Afezame explained that anyone is qualified to enrol in the course- Teachers,Doctors, Journalists, Federation Presidents, students, etc.
The Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA will be having its International lifesaving world championship in Canada this year and these courses forms basis of preparations ahead of all upcoming events.
Ghalda is primarily responsible for preventing drowning in the country and is in the firm belief that this year drowning will be on the low side in Ghana.
