The Ghana Cycling Federation has held a press conference on their upcoming African Road Paracycling Championships next year February to be hosted by Ghana.
The presser also informed the media on the building of a world standard Cycling velodrome in the capital very soon by Korean investors DerbyWheel Pro Keiren.
Speaking at the program, the Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation Mr. Shaaban Mohammed who also doubles as the President of the Paracycling commission of Africa was of extreme elation at this development.
” The hosting of this event in Ghana will offer the platform for more Paracyclists to get classified by the visiting team from the world body”- he said.
Shaaban again mentioned that “the organization of the dual event serves as a preparatory grounds for the African Games and subsequently the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The most significant aspect of the conference was the “handshake” between the Ghana Cycling Federation and Pro Keiren DerbyWheel who exchanged agreement pleasantries in readiness for the velodrome project.
Amongst the dignitaries present at the event were Mr. Godwin Vasco Nukunu, Project Manager of DerbyWheel Africa, Mohammed Shaaban, Managing Director, DerbyWheel Africa, Madam Cynthia wintima, Administrative Manager of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Dennis Kweku Moore, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Federation.
The media were scanned through the achievements and successes of the Federation this year and an expectational calendar on what will be done next year 2023.
Ghana would be hosting the African Road Paracycling Championships for the first time in the history of the Sport in Ghana.
It is estimated the DerbyWheel project will accommodate over $60m to complete and it will serve as additional back ups for other sporting disciplines like table Tennis, athletics, basketball, volleyball, badminton amongst others.
With barely two months for the African Road mundial, the Federation has formed the local Organizing Committee (LOC) and other relevant committees to begin work.
