US based Ghanaian world title contender Sena Agbeko sprang a surprise on his former trainer back in Ghana, Coach Sulemana Korley of the Sonia Boxing Gym in Accra.
Agbeko, 27-2, who has not lost sight of the investment and sacrifice Korley put in at the nascent stages of his career, pulled up at the Bukom Boxing Arena where his former coach was for a weigh-in session
Coach Sulemana Korley was stupefied beyond measure upon setting eyes on his former protege whom he hadn’t seen since his Stateside sojourn began in 2014. He exhorted other fighters and sportsmen not to forget their humble beginnings and also the people who contributed in diverse ways towards their ascent. Sena and Coach Sulemana reminisced about days gone by and shared a warm embrace. It was all joy and smiles.
Sena, who is very close to a world title shot has since left for The States as he intends to stay ready and not be caught off guard. His recent win over Isaiah Steen clearly marks him out as a potential threat to any Champion in the 168 pound division.
He advised Ghanaian boxers especially to remember the coaches who raised them from the rudimentary stages and appreciate them however they can.
