OSAGYEFO CRITERIUM PRESSER HELD AT THE ALISA HOTEL

The final media engagement on the upcoming Osagyefo criterium race scheduled for the Accra sports stadium on the 21st September, 2022 ended at the Volta Hall, Alisa Hotel last Sunday.

Organizers of the event, Gladiators Cycling club in collaboration with the Ghana Cycling Federation, took turns to explain to the media race details and purpose of event.

Lead Technical capo from the Gladiators Cycling club,Mr. Hansen- Quao explained the prize categories at stake for both men and women. He stressed on the need for all registered Cyclists to adhere to the existing rules and regulations binding the race.

Mr. Hansen-Quao took the opportunity to introduce to the media the first ever transponders which would be used in the race to enhance quick results.

In his opening remarks, Chief Gladiator and Founder of Gladiators Cycling club Mr. Kojo Graham Esq. expressed delight on the upcoming Race. He espoused the significance of the Race which had the foundational objectives of the late President of the Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He mentioned the ideals and global vision that the late President left behind, and believed through Cycling those positive antecedents would be harnessed through the Osagyefo race initiative. Mr.Graham officially unveiled the Jerseys to be used on the race day and mentioned that the first fifty riders would be recipients of the jerseys.

Mr. Kojo Graham emphasized briefly on the novelty usage of the Finish line technology gadgets – transponders, which he believed would enhance the developmental objectives of the Cycling Sport.He mentioned that “these gadgets are not the bonafide of Gladiators Cycling club only but also the Ghana Cycling Federation.”

Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation and President of the Africa Paracycling Commission, Mr. Shaaban Mohammed thanked the Gladiators Cycling club and by extension the Chief Gladiator and Founder, Mr. Kojo Graham Esq for his utmost dedication to the Sport and the mind-blowing assistance to the Federation.

“We have spoken to the Union Cycling International -UCI about this particular race and we are working hard to get it on the UCI calendar”- he mentioned.

This year’s Osagyefo race is already simmering with high hopes ostensibly due to the mammoth prizes at stake. Countries like Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Holland are all in contention for the ultimate prizes.

An expectant number of about 70 Elite male riders and 20 female riders, fully insured by the Gladiators Cycling club would register their pedal power on the race day.

The main event will roll off at the Accra sports stadium in a battling circuit of 126 km in 25 laps for the men with a 77km circuit in 17 laps for the women.

The battleline is drawn. Who will “dare to achieve” on the 21st of September,2022?
