The late Ghana Volleyball Association President and former 1st Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee might have kicked the bucket but his lasting legacies continues to attract the sporting fraternity.
A high powered delegation comprising former Ghana Olympic Committee stalwarts paid a courtesy call on the family as traditional demands to commiserate with them on the loss of their/our hero who played a role in Ghana Sports especially as the former 1st Vice President of the Ghana Olympic committee.
The delegation comprised of former celebrated sportsman, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee and great scholar, Prof. Francis Dodoo, Former Secretary General/Legal brain and a seen-it-all sports administrator at the Ghana Olympic committee, Mr. Richard Akpokavie, Former Executive member of the GOC, President of Ghana Table Tennis and a Banker, Mr.Mawuko Afadzinu, President of Ghana Badminton, former deputy Treasurer of Ghana Olympic Committee IT wizard in all aspects, Mr. Evans Yeboah, former Chef du Mission to the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth and member of the Commonwealth Games Ethics commission, Mr. Chris Essilfie, hardworking logistics manager under the estwhile GOC and President of Sports for all, Mr. Nana Mankatta, President of Ghana/Africa Arm wrestling and seasoned Journalist, Mr. Charles Osei Assibey.
Others include Christiana Ashley Vice President of Ghana chess Association and Mr. Melvin Brown, President of Ghana Karatedo
Topping up the lists of the entourage was the Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation, lead strategist of the Ghana Olympic Committee elections last year and again doubling as the operations officer at the Ghana Olympic Committee, Mr. Shaaban Mohammed.
This visit is of great significance and is deeply reflective of how the late Paul Atchoe wanted this to be. The late Paul Atchoe is gone but the delegation seen yesterday would emit some pluff of joy in Paul’s heart wherever he is now.
Paul Atchoe left a huge vacancy as the 1st Vice of the Ghana Olympic committee and his replacement, as he rightly wanted is certainly unfolding as seen in the delegation.
In the solemn interest of Ghana Sports, the lead strategist Shaaban Mohammed hinted that “noble men of this kind cannot be thrown away and that their very experience must be brought to bear, notwithstanding.”
The family was happy of the visit and will communicate date of the burial hopefully soon.
