Kaya coaches Zaira at 2022 Commonwealth Games

Kaya Adwoa Forson is coaching her sister Zaira Forson at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Ghanaian swimmer could not compete and decided to support her sister and the Ghana Swimming Team. She competed in the 200 metre freestyle and 200 metre backstroke at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia. Aged just 13, she was the youngest competitor at the World Championships] Forson lives in Málaga, Spain.

Now Zaira is 17 years and one of the prospects for Ghana Swimming in the near future.

Kaya Adwoa Forson who loves doing the 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke represented Ghana in the 200 metre freestyle at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Forson together with male swimmer Abeiku Jackson, who competed in the 50 metre freestyle in Rio, became the first Ghanaians ever to compete in swimming at the Olympic Games.

Miss Farida Idriss, Technical /Administrative Officer of the Ghana Swimming Association believes Ghana has a bright future in swimming judging from the performance of the young swimmers. She called for more financial and logistical support and history would be made at the upcoming 2023 African Games to be held in Accra Ghana
