Ghana’s Joseph Commey has today joined Abdul Wahid Omar, Abubarkari Quartey and Abraham Mensah in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in the boxing events after beating Betero Aaree of Kiriti this afternoon by 5-0.
Joseph Commey has therefore booked a date with Allan Oaike from Papau New Guinea for the round of 16 showdown on Monday, August 1.
Shakul Samed’s suspension last night means two of the Bombers including the only female rep, Ornella Sathoud are currently out of the race for a medal.
Up next will be Abubakari Kwesi Quartey versus his Nigerian counterpart Adeyinka Benson in the Middleweight (Over 71kg-75kg) in the round of 16 on Sunday from Nec Hall 4.
