Nigeria laughs Last And Best At 2022 World Athletics Championship

Nigeria, one of the most populous nations in Africa made her presence felt on the last day of the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon USA.

The super star of the day was Tobi Amusan who broke the world female 110m hurdles record and set a new 12:12 seconds. She had earlier ran 12:06 seconds, which was doubted.

Coming fourth at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she blasted and made herself, family and nation proud as the Nigerian flag was raised and the National Anthem played.

She put the icing on the cake when she collected $100,000 for her world record breaking achievement. Only three athletes broke world records but there were amazing and fascinating performances. Every winner took home $80,000.

Nigerian Ese Brume also grabbed silver in the women’s long jump on the same day at the World Athletics Championship, Oregon 2022.

She placed second behind German Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo, who continued her dominance in the women’s long jump by soaring to a second successive World Championship gold with a final leap of 7.12 metres.

Brume jumped a personal best of 7. 02 meters to claim the silver medal, while Brazil’s Leticia Oro Melo got the bronze with a leap of 6.89 meters.

Mihambo beat Brume to win the gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

Brume’s accomplishments came just minutes after Tobi Amusan won her first World Championship gold for Nigeria in the 100m hurdles.

And the world record holder was on hand to celebrate with her colleague.
