Yaw Annor wins Ghana Premier League Goal King

…Equals Ishmael Addo’s 21 years old record

AshantiGold SC striker Yaw Annor has scored twenty two (22) goals in the Ghana Premier League season to be declared the Goal King of the GPL in the 2021/ 22 season.

A first half brace from the 24-year-old striker against Bibiani Goldstars in the match-day 34 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.

Hearts of Oak legendary striker Ishmael Addo set the record of notching 22 goals after a blistering output during the 2001 Ghana Premier League season.

Annor has now equalled Ghanaian top-flight league top scorer record after 21 years following his brace against Bibiani Goldstars.

However, former Black Stars Striker Dan Owusu won the League top goal scorer award three consecutive times, scoring 24 goals in 1974,  26 goals in 1975 and 28 goals in 1976. He is considered as the finest striker in the history of the Ghanaian topflight league.  Owusu played as a striker for Sunyani-based club Bofoakwa Tano F.C. in the 1970s forming a strike partnership with former Black Stars Captain Kwasi Owusu within that period.

Former BA and Bofoakwa as well as Black Stars Striker Dan Owusu scored 28 goals in a season 

Cameroonian striker Franck Mbella Etouga finishes second on the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League top scoring chart after netting 21 goals in his debut season for Asante Kotoko.
