Unfinished Business: Bastie Samir and Holy Dorgbetor Drop Jaws

Bastie Samir, displayed a remarkable performance over the weekend as he secured a unanimous decision win against Cameroon’s Kamdam Kouengoue at the prestigious “Unfinished Business” card hosted by Ace Power Promotions. The electrifying event took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, leaving the audience awe-struck.

After a prolonged period of inactivity, Samir, a former Olympian, stepped back into the ring to overcome any ring rust he might have accumulated. Despite Kouengoue’s advantage in reach and height, Samir exhibited unwavering control throughout the fight, dictating the pace and imposing his dominance. Although Kouengoue deserves commendation for his resilience, standing firm and refusing to be knocked out, Samir’s superior skills ultimately prevailed.

With this victory, Samir’s record stands at an impressive 20-0-1, boasting 18 knockout triumphs. He aims to use this win as a launching pad toward his ambition of becoming a continental champion or even a world champion, bringing glory to Ghana.

Another exceptional display of sportsmanship and boxing talent unfolded during the same event, courtesy of Holy Dorgbetor. In an enthralling 8-round featherweight clash, Dorgbetor, known as the Jaw Breaker, outpointed Emmanuel Quartey. The judges’ scorecards reflected Dorgbetor’s dominance, reading 79-73, 79-73, and 80-73.

Dorgbetor’s team had anticipated an early knockout, but Quartey (24-6, 21 KOs) demonstrated remarkable conditioning and durability, enduring the full distance. Following the fight, Dorgbetor’s assistant coach, Joshua Wiredu, told the media that he believes Holy will become a great boxer like Ghanaian boxing legend, Azuma Nelson and the likes.

“I have always seen Holy as the new face of Ghanaian boxing. He is a very good boxer and he has great passion for the sport. I believe in the next few years, he will be fighting the best of the sport has to offer worldwide. He will become great like Nelson and the biggest Ghanaian athletes,” he said.
