Azamati finishes 4th in first Diamond League meet

Benjamin Azamati, Ghana’s 100 meters record holder placed 4th at his first Wanda Diamond League meet in Oslo on Thursday evening. It was organised by World Athletics

The US-based student-athlete ran a good time of 10.15 seconds to cross the finish line behind Canada’s Andre De Grasse, Reece Prescod of the Great Britain and Akane Simbine of South Africa.

De Grasse accomplished the race in a time of 10.05 seconds, while Prescod ran 10.06 seconds and Simbine came in10.09 seconds to grab the second and third positions respectively.

The race was Azamati’s first in the Diamond League, and also forms part of  his preparations towards the World Athletics Championships in Oregon in the USA and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.

After the race, Benjamin Azamati was greeted by fans at the Bislett stadium who asked for his autograph.

He was surprised to see these fans had printed his image from the internet and held hard copies alof for him to sign.
