Black Bombers intensify preparations towards 2022 Commonwealth Games

The national boxing team, the Black Bombers have stepped up their preparations for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK with non residential camping, and super training sessions on Saturdays.
Last Saturday, Yours Truly was at the Bukom Boxing Arena to observe the training and it was just marvelous to see the young rising stars matching the senior boxers boot to boot, and also some experienced professionals coming on board to share their ring knowledge.
All the executive and trainers were present, as well as some very committed boxing fans, the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GHABSU).
Coach Ofori Asare who was in high spirits said if all goes as planned, the The Black Bombers hope to bring more medals than previous international assignments.
Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), Mr. Dauda Fuseni also said the team is ready and so they are planning their own non residential camping and residential camp to put the boxers in real true tournament shape.
He said the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the Ghana Olympic Committee have not been on good terms with the GBF as the executive has been ordered to find their own means to be at the Commonwealth Games.
He said for the 9 boxers representing Ghana, they need four coaches at the Games as well as some fans, but their wishes cannot be met, however they are doing their best to bring home medals, especially gold.
Mr. Fuseni said boxing is a special discipline so they need special care to ensure that the boxers are always in form and ready at all times.
He appealed to the general public and companies to contribute to the success of the Black Bombers.
