Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif  visits Qatar

Ghana’s Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has paid a working visit to Qatar where he met his Qatari compatriot to deliberate on how to mutually promote sports in their respective countries.

He was guided by the President of the facility, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani where he learned some history and also had the opportunity of studying their maintenance manual and revenue generation policy.

He then paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Culture and Sports, His Excellency Salah bin Ghanim Al-Ali to strengthen the bilateral relations between the 2 countries. Among are details of the meeting.

Hon. Ussif emphasized the relations between the 2 countries in sports. He noted that several Ghanaian footballers ply their trade in Qatar including the current Captain of Ghana’s National team, Dede Ayew. He noted that due to that, he looks forward to partnering with Sports and Corporate bodies to increase and dipping the relations in that aspect to ensure more Ghanaian talents benefit from that relation.

He also requested the infrastructure support for Ghana in terms of logistics, technical and if possible a donation of 1 of the stadias after the world cup.

It should be noted that Qatar world cup stadiums are assembled and the Qatari government has indicated that they will donate the infrastructure after the world cup.

Minister intends to replicate the Academy’s successes in Ghana. He praised the idea and suggested the possibility of replicating the Academy in Ghana to help discover and nature more talents in Ghana and the sub-region. He emphasized that these organizations have extensive experience which Ghana would like to benefit from.

The partnership between Al Sadd Football Team and a Club in Ghana

Hon. Ussif enquired about the possibility of a partnership between the Al Sadd Football Team and any Local Team in Ghana. He suggested that this be facilitated at the governmental level and that once it matures, the respective clubs could carry on. He requested that a technical team could be sent by the Ghanaian clubs to Qatar for in-depth training and skills acquisition to the benefit of the 2 clubs.

Hon. Ussif further indicated that a team should be set up by the 2 sister ministries to deliberate on the issue in order to reach an agreement for its implementation.
