Pillow Fight Championship is a new combat sport for slumber party pros. In the inaugural Pillow Fight Championship, grown adults entered what looks like a boxing ring and bludgeoned one other with specialized pillows.
Two athletes emerged with $5,000 and champion belt.
It is a popular sport now in Canada and the United States of America, especially Florida where fighters are earning big. Reports say professional pillow fighters cab collect over $50,000 annually and indeed the new sport is making those who participate rich.
Director of Dreamland Sports Plus, Mr. E Olla Williams, one of the best sports organisers in Ghana said they are putting up a Championship in Accra as part of the 2022 Homowo Festival.
He expressed that the advanced countries have many sports disciplines that make them not idle, but rich and famous.
He wondered why only football and boxing make people get a few cedis in Ghana.
“Ghanaians can have fun and make business with pillow fighting, and we will soon organize a championship with fantastic prizes at stake, we need companies to sponsor and we will get there” he said.
Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams has been Youth Coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee, he also organized the Road Baton Race, Kids Olympic Games and other events in Ghana.
Just recently, he put up the Sports Programmes that heralded the 2022 Aboakyer Festival. Dreamland is also coming up with the Ga Homowo Sports Challenges.
