The DG of the NSA, Prof Peter Twumasi last joined officials of Winneba Sports College and National Sports For All Association Ghana (NASFAAG) at the closing ceremony of a 6-day Residential Fitness Instructors Course at The National Sports College, Winneba.
The programme which started from 27th March was attended by 25 fitness instructors selected from across the country. All enrolled participants qualified and were presented with Advance Certificates.
Currently, there are 3,600 keep fit clubs and gyms in our communities across the country and they help to better improve health of the public especially in the midst of rising deaths associated with Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) or lifestyle diseases in Ghana. This is also a way to create jobs for the youths in sports.
Unfortunately, most of these clubs do not have qualified or certified fitness instructors to lead them in exercise routines, and there is also high demand for such instructors as the Government prepares for the launch of National Fitness Day to be participated by all Ghanaians monthly for general health improvements of the society.
Director of Winneba Sports College, Mr Noah Bukari, and President of NASFAAG, Nana Adu Mankata II were all in attendance.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) has been actively working with our partners to organize capacity building programmes for our coaches and sports developments in different sporting disciplines for sustainable sports development and promotion.
