“CARELESS WHISPER upsets ROYAL QUEEN.”
It was excruciating upset to Mr. Samuel Botchway’s (Bampoe) stables when Careless Whisper formerly known as Bruno ridden by his favourite jockey Ebenezer Nartey pipped Royal Queen at the wire to emerge victorious in the first day, first race of the Easter Race Meeting organised by the Accra Turf Club in conjunction with Spartan Racing.
When the starter’s flag went down to signal the start of the 1000 meters (5 furs) race, Royal Queen took the lead with continuous widening gap, followed by Careless Whisper It was a comfortable lead for Royal Queen as she led all the way without any challenge until fifty meters to the wire when Careless Whisper who was assisted by jockey Ebenezer Nartey emerged strongly to pip Royal Queen at the wire.
In the 2nd race of the day stable mates Alitalia and new entrant Maadiya from “GRINGO STABLES” dominated the 3A & 3B division by claiming the first and second place respectively.
Fear of God owned by “SPARTAN RACING” nearly upset Supreme Lady at the finishing wire in the 4C division 1,200 meters (6furs) dash. Fear of God was charitable to Supreme Lady at the finish
because he is in love with Supreme Lady else, it would have been a different story.
