The match anticipated Independence Day Footvolley Championship ended with Winneba (National Sports College Team A and B taking the first and second position at the University of Ghana Legon Campus, Accra on March 7th 2022.
The Winneba A and B team carried their momentum in the game and defeated the 2021 defending champions Keta footvolley team to take the first position .
The championship comprised of both male and female categories represented the beginner and professionals respectively. It also saw teams from Keta , Aflao, National Sports College-Winneba, Accra, Ashiaman, Koforidua, and Nsawom.
The occasion was graced by Mr. Alhassan Sumani, (National Sports Authority representative), Madam Roni Leef( Hydrothapy expert and an Israeli female Footvolley professional ) Munkaila Seibu, ( HPERS Department University of Education, Winneba HOD), Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Sedibe, Calvin Adama Agbeko (Winton Senior High School PE teacher) and other dignitaries from the University of Ghana swimming pool.
Speaking at the end of the competition, the Chairman (Mr. Alhassan Sumani commended the Association from organizing such a great and historic competition and assure the Association of the National Sports Authority support to the development of Footvolley.
The president of the Association Mr. Mustapha Mohammed applauded all members and called for more sponsors to support Association to unearth, empower, build and nurture the youth. He appealed to the media to promote lesser known and less financed sports like Footvolleyball.
Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Sedibe also applauded the organizers for staging such a fantastic programme.
Madam Roni Leef won the best female player of the tournament, while National Sports College-Winneba star boy Desmond Teye won the best male player of the Tournament. His team also picked up the best team of the tournament. The third position went to Keta footvolley team.
