The Ghana Deaf Sports Federation (GDSF), today, March, 30th 2023, paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
Executives from the federation, accompanied officials from the Korea Deaf Sports Federation called on the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twurasi to update him on the latest development on Deaf Sports.
Mr. Jeong. Bongkyu who doubles as Secretary General of the Korea Deaf Sports Federation and Taekwondo Technical Director for the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) indicated that the visit was to oversee how Deaf Sports is being managed here in Ghana. He explained, that Ghana’s participation in the 24th Summer Deaflympics held in Brazil last year brought the sudden interest in the development of the sports in Ghana. Again, he noted that the Korean Deaf Sports Federation is willing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Deaf Sports Federation and assured them of support for the development of the sport.
The Vice President for the GDSF, Mr. Kingsley Kweku Nkansah-Asah was pleased with the Korean federation’s interest in partnering with the federation to provide Technical Support. Prof. Twumasi, NSA director General, also on his part, noted that the authority would continue to offer support to both Able and Disabled sports in line with its mandate of Sports Development and Promotion.
He applauded the federation for its active role in the sport both locally and internationally and making the country proud. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Jeff Manzah, Director for Sports Promotion (NSA), Miss Choi Mina Secretary General of Department of Sports Promotion in Korea, and Mr. Jonathan Amuah, President for the Ghana Deaf Sports Federation.
