GHALDA: INTERNATIONAL LIFESAVING TRAINING COURSE ENDS SUCCESSFULLY

The five day International lifesaving course organized by the Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA has ended successfully at the Legon Pool,Accra.

The course, which engaged the over 20 participants involved entry test, Lifeguard Professionalism,General Rescues, Resuscitation,Beach supervision techniques, First Aid and Lifeguard Assessment was led by lifeguard instructor,Rauf Abdul Zakaria.

Participants had their practical lessons both in the pool and at the seaside with the theory exams taking place at the Legon.

The course happens to be the first ever recognized International lifesaving programme in the country and this was to raise the awareness of drowning prevention and the need to breed more lifeguards to fight this menace.

Participants were very happy and expressed utmost gratefulness to Ghalda for organizing this course.

“I thought I knew how to swim until I participated in this course. God bless Ghalda,God bless Rauf,”- one participant said.

Lead Instructor and President of the Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA,Mr. David Kwasi Afezame was highly elated about the exercise and charged participants to used the practical experienced gained wisely to prevent drowning in their respective grounds.

Successful participants who finished up the process of the five day program would be receiving their certificates from the World Body ILS based on the points build up in their practical and theory exams.

In an interview with the deputy course instructor, John Kwame Bordebor,he was impressed with the turn out and believed the Federation would build on this and organize more of such courses.
