This year’s Lifeguard Training certification course organized by the Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA has began at the Poolside of the University of Ghana Legon.
The course which is currently ongoing at the Legon campus, has seen over 25 participants enrolling.
Day one of this exercise saw participants confirming their superiority over water in different strokes.
Under the instructions of course directors, Abdul Rauf Zakaria and John Kwame Bordebor, the participants were taken through vigorous physical endurance in and under water.
The theoretical aspect of the day’s work followed right after the practical drills.
The theory includes the types of drowning and causes of drowning and prevention.
The course is under the lead instruction of the President of the Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA David Kwasi Afezame.
The Ghana lifesaving and Diving Association-GHALDA is the sole mandated body under the National Sports Authority to regulate aqua activities in the country and primarily to prevent drowning.
