Ghana relay team have booked a place in the final after finishing 5th with a season’s best at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
They did 44.32s to take a non-automatic qualifier slot. Final is tomorrow at 11:54am.
This is the first time the young sprinters Mary Boakye, Latifa Ali, Gifty Oku, Hor Halutie are racing together, they have potential to be better and should be encouraged.
• Hor (far left) was spotted in the Upper West Region a few years ago and, with the help donors, was fast-tracked to go abroad.
• Gifty (second from left) is based in Ghana and is at the University of Education, Winneba. This will be her debut race for Ghana.
• Latifa (second from right) is US-based at the Coppin State University. She’s previously raced for Ghana at the 2021 Relays in Poland.
• Mary (far right) is also Ghana based, with the Armed Forces. Today also marks her debut for the national team.
