The official weigh in for the much talked about Aboakyir Fight Night at the Winneba Sports College on Friday May 1, 2026 Boxing Showdown was held at the La Farmacia Lounge and Sports Bar last Thursday.
The event attracted a section of the Ghana Boxing family including Mr. Patrick Johnson who represented the Interim Management Committee of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).
According to Mubarak Yusif Nanor of Legacy Rise Sports Promotions and Safe-Box Boxing Promotions as well as MYN Matchmaking,, he expects a good fight because all boxers are going to give their best to make this year’s Aboakyir festival memorable, because it was spiced with boxing by Ayitey Powers Promotions.
The main bout is a WBA Pan African Welterweight Title 10/3 between Samuel Opagun of Nigeria and Mpro Tadia Wali of Benin in Ghana.
Both boxers promised to win, and Yours Truly feels a knockout should be expected.
The under cards are mouthwatering as most of the boxers are coming from Bukom, the heart of boxing in Ghana.
Daniel Otoo and Kpakpo Allotey represent the current and old generation of boxers on the bill.
Coach Rasheed Williams aka Believer who is lead matchmaker of the bill said Ayitey Powers has suffered in recent times as his promotion was put on hold so boxing fans should come to Winneba in their numbers to support the event.
Ayitey Powers is a former boxer who is investigating into the sport. He is also a musician and preacher of the word.
He is a member of the NDC. loves music and sports. He plays snooker at his leisure time. He is a member of the La Farmacia Snooker Club.
