Mr. Dauda Fuseni, Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) on Wednesday paid a special working visit to the Black Rockets, the national youth boxing team, who are in non residential camping preparing for a tour and other international assignments.
The Rockets who train at the Bukom Boxing Arena on weekends and daily at the Charles Quartey Memorial Boxing Foundation Gym at Timber Market, James Town were very happy to see the hard working official and they promised to give their best to enhance Ghana Boxing.
Mr. Fuseni advised the young talented boxers who were selected after the 2022 National Individual Open Championship to be disciplined, dedicated and devoted to the sport which they have chosen.
He urged them also to take their education very serious and be obedient to their parents, coaches and all elders.
“We are thinking about now and the future, that is why we have selected and grooming the Rockets at the right time. We want to give them the exposure, confidence and motivation to be ready at any time, and always have the winning mentality. We need funds, because we feed them everyday after training. Companies in Ghana must not support only football and beauty pageants, but also boxing, which have always rewarded the nation with medals” he stated.
Head Coach Charles Quartey who was also very delighted to see the Vice President charged the boxers to be focused and target their goal and ambitions of becoming famous and world champions in future.
Present at the gym were assistant coaches, Gabriel Allotey aka ‘Zico’, Bernard Nartey, Ernest Ofori, Isaac Sowah, Bernard Armah and Joseph Nartey.
Mr. Mustapha Nettey, Treasurer of the GBF who is always present at the training of the boxers appealed to the Sports Authorities and Corporate Ghana to support the future champions in cash and kind.
He expressed that they need many things like food, medicine, clothes, transport ( a bus) and money (funds).
“We are looking for an official sponsor and we will never disappoint that company, because our boxers are always eager to produce something positive” he said.
